On Sunday, July 12th, Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra will be hosting a free concert/workshop at St Scholastica’s Community Centre in Bennettswood. This event serves as a prelude to the orchestra’s 44th anniversary concert which will take place on Sunday, August 23rd 2026, at the Hawthorn Arts Centre.
This year’s free concert and workshop promises an exciting and dynamic program. Led by conductor Mr Yat Ping Chan, audience members will be guided through a journey of musical discovery. The conductor will introduce the structure of a Chinese orchestra. A wide range of traditional instruments will be demonstrated, such as Dizi, Xiao, Sheng, Suona, Yangqin, Liuqin, Pipa, Sanxian, Ruan, Guzheng, Banhu, Gaohu, Erhu, Zhonghu and various Chinese percussion instruments. During the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to view many of these instruments up close and gain a deeper appreciation of their unique sounds, construction, and musical roles.
In addition to ensemble pieces such as “Iron-Blood and Loyal Heart,” “Chrysanthemum Terrace,” “Weishan Lake,” and “Shanghai Bund”, the program will also feature an Erhu ensemble, a zhongruan duet, a plucked string ensemble, a flute solo, etc.
Chinese music enthusiasts and those interested in Chinese traditional instruments of all ages, genders, and backgrounds are welcome to attend. Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra’s concerts in previous years have proven extremely popular, often reaching a full house. As seating is limited, admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
The venue hire for this event has been kindly supported by Victorian Government’s 2025-26 Chinese Community Hall Hire program (CCHH) through the Department of Premier and Cabinet (The Department).
肇風中樂團將於今年七月十二日（星期日）在St Scholastica’s Community Centre舉辦一場免音樂會及中國樂器工作坊【吹彈拉打乜咚咚】，作為肇風中樂團於二零二六年八月二十三日（星期日）在 Hawthorn Arts Centre舉行的四十四週年大型音樂會【樂韻映山河】音樂會的前奏。
今年的【吹彈拉打乜咚咚】免費音樂會及工作坊內容豐富、生動有趣。由陳一平先生擔任指揮，帶領觀眾踏上一段精彩的中樂探索之旅。陳指揮將介紹中樂團的組成與特色，並逐一講解各類傳統樂器，包括笛子、簫、笙、嗩吶、揚琴、柳琴、琵琶、三弦、阮、古箏、板胡、高胡、二胡、中胡，以及各種中國打擊樂器。在工作坊環節中，觀眾更可近距離欣賞及認識這些傳統樂器，深入了解其音色與演奏特色。
節目內容精彩多元，除了二十多位團員合奏《鐵血丹心》、《菊花台》、《微山湖》及《上海灘》等合奏作品外，還將帶來二胡齊奏、彈撥樂合奏、中阮二重奏及笛子獨奏等等。
凡對中樂或中國傳統樂器有興趣的人士，不論任何年齡，男女老幼，均歡迎參加。肇風中樂團歷年舉辦的音樂會均深受觀眾歡迎，近年的免費音樂會更是場場座無虛席。由於座位有限，是次活動將採取先到先得方式入場，額滿即止。
