To celebrate the 42nd anniversary of Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra, Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra of Melbourne, the Heung To Chinese Orchestra of Hong Kong and the internationally renowned erhu virtuoso Ms Shih Chieh will present a very special performance on Sunday, 18 Aug 2024 (4–6pm) at the Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School Performing Arts Centre.
Established in 2018, the Heung To Evergreen Chinese Orchestra (2nd slide) of Hong Kong actively participates in community events and festivals. Their performances include not only traditional and contemporary Chinese ethnic music but also folk choral and Cantonese opera accompaniment in the form of ethnic symphony. They have frequently provided vocal accompaniment for artists, singers, and winners of talent shows on Hong Kong TVB.
In this concert, we also have the honour of having the internationally renowned erhu player, Ms Shih Chieh Hou perform the “Princess Cheung Ping’s Theme Caprice” for the audience. Ms Hou served as the principal erhu musician in the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra from 1987 to 2002. She began participating in TV, film, and pop music recordings as well as large-scale live concerts in 1989, collaborated with stars such as Joseph Koo, James Wong, Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Sandy Lam, Sally Yeh, Lowell Lo, and many more.
As the largest registered Chinese Orchestra in Australia, Chao Feng (1st slide) is a unique entity in our culturally diverse city of Melbourne, well received locally and overseas. This year, our audience will be enthralled by a 70-piece combined orchestra using 30 different traditional instruments, lead by 3 experienced conductor to perform traditional and contemporary compositions.
The concert features performances with traditional Chinese instruments in various styles, with delightful and popular melodies. The programme includes “Princess Cheung Ping’s Theme Caprice” and “Henan Folk Tune” (Erhu solos), “Battling against the Typhoon” (Guzheng concerto), ” Affection of Spring Wind & Night Rain ” (Dizi concerto), a small ensumble performing “Bliss” and “Zoltraak” (adapted from Japanese anime, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End), and many more individual and combined orchestra perfmances.
音樂會簡訊
肇風中樂團慶祝成立42週年，將與香港香島長青中樂團暨國際著名二胡演奏家霍世潔老師攜手呈獻: 【肇樂長青】音樂會，用中國傳統樂器爲大家演奏不同風格，悅耳動聽，極受歡迎的樂曲。
香島長青中樂團於2018年成立，樂團積極參與社區和節日的表演，其表演項目除傳統和當代的中國民族樂曲外，也以民族交響樂形式爲民謠合唱和粵曲清唱伴奏，曾多次爲香港無線電視的藝員、歌星、星夢傳奇和中年好聲音比賽的得獎者作演唱伴奏。
本次音樂會非常榮幸，得到國際著名的資深二胡演奏家霍世潔（圖四）老師垂愛，爲觀衆演奏【帝女花主題隨想】。霍世潔老師在1987-2002年任香港中樂團中鬍首席樂師。1989年開始參與電視電影流行音樂的錄製及各項大型演唱會現場演出，合作巨星包括顧嘉煇、劉德華、張學友、林憶蓮、葉倩文、盧冠廷、李克勤等。
今年音樂會除了霍世潔老師的二胡協奏之外，還有笛子演奏家曾薇霖小姐的笛子協奏【春風夜雨情】。長青中樂團的李美詩將會演奏古箏協奏【戰颱風】。此外還有由肇風的助理指揮凌曉進帶領的小樂隊合奏由日本動漫《葬送的芙莉蓮》插曲改編的【Bliss】和【Zoltraak 】。其他節目包括：古箏協奏【戰颱風、二胡獨奏【河南小曲】、廣東音樂【賽龍奪錦】、聯合樂隊大合奏樂曲有：【黃飛鴻主題隨想】、【關山月】、【再唱山歌】、和【豐年祭】。
是次音樂會有90多位表演者和3位指揮參與香島長青中樂團的指揮葉敢新一生從事樂器教學和學校樂隊訓練工作，爲香港多個業餘樂團的音樂總監和指揮。肇風中樂團的兩位指揮：陳一平和陳劭航都是大家熟悉和喜愛的專業指揮，肇風中樂團在他們兩位的指揮棒下，樂隊发揮將有精彩絶倫的效果。敬請期待！
