Highlights

According to the occasion, the Orchestra performs as a large 50-plus member orchestra, as a small ensemble or as solo artists.

As well as staging a major annual concert, the Orchestra performs regularly at Chinese cultural celebrations such as Chinese New Year Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. The Orchestra also performs at multicultural events and frequently participates in events organised by educational institutions.

The Orchestra has performed together with many groups such as the Three Chinese Tenors, the Keat Hong Chinese Orchestra and Temasek Polytechnic Chinese Orchestra of Singapore, the Hong Kong Music Lover Chinese Orchestra, PCC Malaysian Chinese Orchestra, the Hong Kong Juvenile and Youth Chinese Orchestra, the Hong Kong YWCA Chinese Orchestra, the Dachung Youth Chinese Classical Orchestra of Taiwan, the Hong Kong La Salle College Chinese Orchestra, the Penleigh Essendon Grammar Chinese Orchestra, Lo Wen’s Cantonese Opera Academy, the Australian Chinese Music Ensemble, the Whitehorse Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Chinese Choir. The Orchestra has also been involved with Melbourne composer Julian Yu and has performed under the baton of China’s Yang Jieming (the first conductor of the Central Song and Dance Ensemble of China).

2017 Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra’s 35th Anniversary Concert 肇風中樂團三十五週年音樂會《樂韻迎雙慶》

The Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra has performed at Melbourne International Festivals, Spoleto Festivals, Moomba celebrations and folklore festivals. The Orchestra is also regularly involved in charity and educational activities via workshops with schools and universities.

Major performances have been conducted on a number of occasions at Monash University’s Robert Blackwood Hall, Melbourne University’s Melba Hall, the Great Hall at the National Gallery of Victoria, the Australian Museum of Chinese History, Government House, Caulfield Arts Complex, the Hamer Hall and George Fairfax Studio of the Victoria Arts Centre, the, Melbourne Park (Entertainment Centre), the Melbourne Town Hall and the Dallas Brooks Hall, Immigration Museum, Melbourne Museum, The National Gallery of Victoria, Royal Melbourne Show, the Ivanhoe Girls Grammar School’s Performing Arts Centre and the Melbourne Recital Centre.

16/05/1993 – Chinese International Arts Festival concert at the Caulfield Arts Complex and the Melbourne Town Hall accompanying the Three Chinese Tenors.

05/06/1992 – Australian Festival of Asian Arts “In the Footsteps of Marco Polo (A Musical Journey)” (音樂之旅) 馬可•波羅的足跡 performance at the Melbourne Arts Centre’s George Fairfax Studio in conjunction with the Australian Chinese Music Ensemble, conducted by Mr Jieming Yang 楊潔明指揮of the Central Song and Dance Ensemble from Beijing. At this performance the Orchestra also accompanied Mr Kun Xie, one of the Three Chinese Tenors, as well as the well-known soprano Ms Wenli Kang.
